If you've never thought about crafting as art, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is out to change your mind.
Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) was founded to advance education about the process, product and history of craft. HCCC offers innovative exhibitions, on-site artists-in-residence, educational programming, craft workshops and unique shopping.
If you've never thought about crafting as art, the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft is out to change your mind. A large gallery features work from local and touring artists in a setting as serious as a fine-arts museum. The rest of the building houses the Asher Gallery – a “retail showcase,” better known as a “gift shop” -- with unusual gifts you’d actually be proud to give, studios for the artists-in-residence, and a space for workshops on techniques ranging from tattooed quilting to blacksmithing.
HCCC offers a wide range of fee-based craft workshops; visit our website for a full schedule and to register online.
General admission is free to the public.
Memberships are available at a variety of levels, starting at $40 for an individual. Visit our website for details and to purchase your membership online.
