Launched in 2002, Mildred's Umbrella takes it title from a poem in Gertrude Stein's collection "Tender Buttons." Co-founder John Harvey was reading names of Stein poems to fellow co-founder Jennifer Decker.
"When he got to Mildred's Umbrella,'' Deckers recalls, "I said, 'That sounds good. It has a ring.' ''
