Friday, Sept. 25:
It's the 15th Annual Weekend of Contemporary Dance at Miller Outdoor Theater. Read our Q&A with choreographer Polly Motley. Making it personal: this also marks my anniversary with my boyfriend, who I met at what must have been the eighth annual contemporary dance fest. We're not big dance followers, but it was a public place and a free show, so it seemed like a good place to meet up. We would later go on to House of Pies and awkwardly eat pie in silence. 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Free.
I wrote about Strange Fruit earlier in the week. Performances Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. Discovery Green. Free.
Saturday, Sept. 26:
A new exhibit opened at the Museum of Printing History called "QWERTY: A Typewriter Retrospective." I realize it's a small part of the population that finds typewriters romantic, but those who do are fervent. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Free.
How I Came to America is a newly opened exhibition of art by first-generation Americans sharing stories of the immigrant experience. This is presented by Community Artists’ Collective at Midtown Arts Center. Noon-5 p.m. Free.
