The history of Mexico unfolds colorfully in the swirling dances and live music of Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernández. Bits of flamenco, tango, ballet, polka, African and pre-Hispanic idioms play into the picture with riotous energy as the troupe enacts songs about Indian traditions, lovers, revolutionaries, festivals and the simple joys of life.
It’s been more than 20 years since the legendary company performed at Miller Outdoor Theatre, so a whole new generation of fans will want to see it. 7:30 p.m. Friday, Miller Outdoor Theatre, Hermann Park. Admission is free; tickets for assigned, covered seating are available 10:30 a.m.-1 p.m. and (if any remain) at 7 p.m. Friday at the Miller Outdoor Theatre box office.
