TRS-80, which performs at the closing night of the Frenetic Fringe Festival on Sunday, is Jay Rajeck and Eric Fensler. They offer a stunning live performance that mixes live music and animation, steered for more than a decade by Rajeck's unique musical vision. Their work has a comical, somewhat awkward appeal, but this video also maintains a masterful musical live performance that is TRS-80's trademark:
Here is an earlier work by Eric Fensler set to a TRS-80's, Don't Mess With Illinois:
This helped set Fensler off on a film career, but he also took the internet by storm, creating one of the first underground viral video series, pre-YouTube, redubbing GI Joe PSAs. Out of respect for a cease-and-desist order from Hasbro, we aren't linking to the videos, but you can still find them around. Here, let me Google that for you.
His hilarious work on "Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job!" can be seen on Fensler's site along with shirts for sale referencing those golden days of the PSAs.

Thanks so much for the write up, very cool. Unfortunately TRS-80 will not be performing tomorrow since the Fringe Festival ####ed us over in the worst way possible. Robert from the Fringe Festival agreed to purchase flights for us from Chicago to Houston and then from Houston back to LA. He wouldn't return our emails or phone calls for the last couple of weeks and we only found out two days ago they decided not to buy our tickets. Leaving us stranded in Chicago!
We've never been so ####ed over by a promoter ever before and it's going to cost us hundreds of dollars to purchase last minute flights back to LA. If you're at the festival please give them the finger for us and ----- - ---- -- ----- ----, because we couldn't be more angry with them.
Sorry about the negativity, but we are blown away at just how shitty we were treated by the Fringe Festival. Hopefully we can play Texas soon without getting totally screwed for hundreds of dollars.
Best,
Jay
