Melissa Phillips/Houston ChroniclePreregistration is available here for the chance to buy tickets to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston exhibition Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs before they officially go on sale to non-MFAH members Sept. 13.

Tickets went on sale Thursday for MFAH members, schools and groups.

Normally the MFAH is closed Mondays, but the exhibit will be on view seven days a week Oct. 16-April 15.

Among the highlights are statues - some life-size or even larger - of rulers including Khafre, who built the Great Sphinx and one of the pyramids at Giza, and Tut's father, Akhenaten, the pharaoh who abolished Egyptian polytheism in favor of one omnipotent sun god. The show also features a 10-foot statue of Tut found at the remains of a funerary temple and a golden coffinette that once held his stomach.
