The original Bronx Bar is an anchor of meat-market, pseudo-upscale douchebaggotry in the Village, offering little more than a haven for easily impressed Rice students and misguided $30,000 millionaires. Seemingly a bar trying to be a club – and successfully, for whatever that’s worth – the lack of seating at the bar is "remedied" by a row of seats against the opposite wall, leaving no doubt or room for interpretation: the bar is supposed to be a spectacle. Though the bartenders occasionally dabble in flare (fireballs and other Coyote Ugly-esque activities), the setup is largely a device designed to perpetuate the see-and-be-seen artifice at Bronx. Not at all recommended for getting dressed up and going out with a date, Bronx is far more amenable to putting on your best clothes and trying to find a date . . . providing you at least look like you have the scratch.
