Though the name infers this bar is all about sports, Christian’s Tailgate really knows how to host a party. If it’s not $1 drafts, it’s karaoke or Guitar Hero. If you’re a regular at Steve Christian’s other establishment, Christian’s Totem, don’t expect the same place. Be ready for a bigger, rowdier crowd.
Alison Cook says: The high-flying, hand-formed burgers at this neo-icehouses belong in a Houston Hall of Fame. So do the idiosyncratic onion rings, with their glazed, almost caramelized shells (forget the prefab fries). Grab an icy beer on tap, ogle sports on multiple screens and be prepared to roll with the good-ol'-girl service, which can bog down during busy spells.
