Fitzgerald's is one of the oldest music venues in town. But it's also thought of as one of the worst. The place employs a "pay to play" policy meaning your band has to pay to play, which is generally frowned upon in local music circles. Fitz has gone through a lot of changes over the years; stages have been added and remodeled, there's a patio in the back, an arcade game or two, but the biggest change is they no long carry Mickey's wide mouth grenades. Mickey's is a cheap malt liquor and the little bottles are green, short and stout resembling a hand grenade. Watching crusty punks take swills from their grenades then throw them onstage was a good way to pass the time back in the day, but now things have changed and Fitz is more laid back. Suburban kids looking to rough it for a night hang out and watch their friends bands play for little to no money. Older music fans flock here for the occasional blues show or country set. Touring acts come through far less often than they used to, but the place fills up quick when they do.
