Midtown bars are all about capacity, which is what propels Front Porch past the competition. The bar itself is moderate in size, but the patio is extensive and almost always loaded with Midtown’s twenty-somethings and the sort of people who see Midtown as a destination (you know who these people are). The bar has more in common with an icehouse like Woodrow’s than a frat-friendly spot like Christian’s Tailgate. Which is not to say that Front Porch isn’t frat-friendly – exactly the opposite, the bar is built to draw out college students, or people who wish they were still college students, and football season is when Front Porch really shines. Still, it’s one of the more laid-back bars along that particular stretch of West Gray.
