Located in the Sandman building, McElroy’s is a perfect place to lounge. Its classy-but-broken-in leather furniture is from the Old Capitol Club in the original Rice Hotel. So, more than likely, your butt will have graced the same seat as some of the most powerful butts in Houston’s history. Unlike the Old Capitol Club, McElroy’s is a very neighborhood and a definite regulars bar. Bartenders are friendly and attentive. And the pub features one of the best patios in Houston. It’s big, covered and highly secluded. You wouldn’t even know the place had one if they didn’t point you to the back door.
