Rose Garden is one of the best kept (and best hidden) secrets in the city. The cash-only, beer and wine bar is painfully unassuming, and you're almost certain to feel like an intruder upon entering for the first time. A largely blue-collar crowd sips brew in the classic beer joint, surrounded by wood-paneled walls, a country-fied juke and a few video poker machines. The staff – and regulars – are notorious for maintaining a no-nonsense atmosphere, so only grown-up drinkers need bother. Those who do enjoy a mellow, mature time will find a welcoming crowd and good, cheap beer.
