I'm spending time with family this Easter, which means no alcoholic beverages, no cursing and plenty of "Yes, Ma'ams" and "Thank you very much"s. But if you're planning to go out this Sunday for a family-free, friend-filled Easter, here are a few places to consider. I'll be with you in spirit.
* Cork Wine Bar will have bottomless mimosas for $9.95, not to mention brunch which starts at noon. I've never had mimosas at Cork, but I've heard good things about the place.
* Khon's Wine Darts Coffee Art will host its Crawfish Birthday Extravaganza on Sunday. I don't really know what the "birthday" part is about (anniversary perhaps?), but they'll have 200 lbs. of crawfish for the peeling. All free. Note: They will be accepting donations for all of this mudbug goodness. So don't cheap out please. The festivities begin at 3 p.m.
Crawfish and beer: Good combination
* Bohemeos will open at 6 p.m., a little later than usual, to give the owners some family time. They still plan to have the regularly scheduled open mic music night though, starting at 8 p.m.
* At Brian O'Neills, you can get fish and chips half price and 25 cent buffalo wings all day. Plus, enjoy happy hour specials all day, including $1.75 well drinks, $2.25 20 oz. Shiner draught and $2 house wine.
* Bronx Bar doesn't open until 8 p.m., but they do have drink specials - $4 you-call-its.
* Sundays are Poetry Lounge nights, with an open mic at Shadow Bar. Open mic nights have featured such popular poets as Bar None and are usually well-attended.
* Scout Bar will have their live remote of The Texas Buzz with radio station 94.5 the Buzz. They're offering up a free concert featuring Faktion, Set ADrift and Weirdo. $5 pitchers, $2.50 Jagers and no cover.
