Houston Cellar Classic, Zest in the West celebrate food, drink

    The Grand Tasting Experience at the Tasting Room-Uptown Park is the highlight of the Houston Cellar Classic, a five-day, multivenue event that runs through Sunday.
    The grand tasting, which benefits the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, is 1-5 p.m. Saturday and will offer guests the opportunity to taste more than 100 wines as well as enjoy small bites from some of the city’s best restaurants.
    Tickets to the event at 1101 Uptown Park are $50, or $100 for VIP access. For tickets or information, go to houstoncellarclassic.com.
    The reset of the HCC lineup:

    • Wednesday, Oct. 17: HBJ Cigar & Wine Tasting starts at 5:30 p.m at TTR-Uptown Park. Tickets are $40.
    • Thursday, Oct. 18: Tasting on the Lake starts at 5:30 p.m at TTR-Kingwood, 1660 W. Lake Houston Parkway in Kingwood. Tickets start at $15. An over at TTR-CityCenter, 818 Town and Country, there will be a wine dinner starting at 6:30. Cost is $155 per person.
    • Friday, Oct. 19: Bubbles & Baubles starts at 5:30 p.m. at TTR-River Oaks, 2409 West Alabama St. Ticket start at $40.
    • Sunday, Oct. 21: “Crush” on Main Plaza starts at 4 p.m. at TTR-CityCentre. Tickets at $15.

    ZEST IN THE WEST
    Craft beers, premium wines and food from West Houston’s most popular restaurants are the focus of Zest in the West. The event is 6-9 p.m. Thursday at the Westchase Hilton, 999 Westheimer. Admission is $45, or $75 for VIP access, which includes access to a champagne tasting that begins at 5 p.m. For information, go to zestinthewest.com.
