Depending who you ask, there seems to be several different answer to the question, “What’s the oldest bar in Houston?” One of the answers is the West Alabama Icehouse. According to its current owner, the place has been around for 80 years. That’s a mighty long time to be serving beer. And that’s all they serve, ice-cold beer. Well, there’s wine somewhere behind the bar but who’s going to drink wine at an icehouse? There’s an amazing amount of picnic tables to sit at as well as a covered bar with fans and heaters for bad weather. Make sure to stop in on the weekend when they have the barbecue pit burning.
