Mapping director Wes Anderson's Rushmore can be a bit of a chore since he shot scenes on the northwest side of town, over by the Ship Channel and at various neighborhoods inside the Loop. But Wes' brother Eric Chase Anderson - a writer and artist who has done maps and other artowork for his brother's films - pulled it all together with "The World of Max Fischer" in the map above.
Here's a handy reference to some of the places on the map. Click on the images for a larger view.
1. St. John's School
St. John's School's gorgeous old buildings, which can be seen at 2401 Claremont, provided director Wes Anderson with his stately Rushmore Academy.
2. Lamar High School
After Max Fischer is expelled from Rushmore, he attends public school at Grover cleveland Senior High School, which was set at Lamar, 3325 Westheimer.
3. Doug's Barber Shop
Max tells people that his father is a neurosurgeon, but Bert Fischer (Seymour Cassel) actually runs his own barbershop. The shop where two scenes were set is still open for business at 219 E. 11th
4. Hollywood Cemetery
Max's mother, Eloise Fischer, is buried in an unnamed cemetery in the film. It's Hollywood Cemetery at 3506 N. Main, just north of downtown.
5. North Shore High School
For the Max Fischer Players' production of a Vietnam-set epic, Anderson needed a school that would allow a small, model flamethrower prop. They found their place at North Shore, 13501 Holly Park.
6. Swimming pool
Prior to taking a memorable plunge, Herman Blume (Bill Murray) tosses golf balls into a swimming pool while smoking a cigarette and drinking bourbon on the rocks. Anderson's father says the scene was shot at the Forest Club, 9950 Memorial.
7. Delmar Stadium parking lot
What better place to fly a kite - or a remote-controlled airplane - than a parking lot outside a stadium? Delmar is just off U.S. 290 outside the Loop at 2020 Mangum.
8. West University home
Max's teacher/love interest, Rosemary Cross, lived in a gorgeous white home, called the Appleby home in the film after her late husband, on North Boulevard in West U.
9. Warwick Hotel
After getting kicked out of the house by his wife, Blume checked into the Warwick Hotel, which has since been renovated and reopened as Hotel ZaZa, 5701 Main.

I saved Latin! What did you do!!!
The house on North Blvd. is in Boulevard Oaks, not West U. The scene where Max's teacher and Bill Murray's character go for a walk together (and are spotted by Max's friend Dirk) was filmed in the 1400 block of North Blvd. between Mandell and Graustark.
What about the Jindal United Steel plant out in Baytown? It was Blume's company.
Great post! I hope you can make it out tomorrow night it's going to be a blast
BTW, Doug is the best barber in town!
There Will Be Bicycles.
The parking garage where Max and Mrs. Blume meet is downtown.
And Bill Murray's birthday was this week. I have no idea why I care, but I do. Don't judge me.
I saved Latin. What did you ever do?
Lots of bicycles. :)
With friends like you, who needs friends?
These are my O.R. scrubs.
O R they!!!???
I used to jump off that high dive all the time as a kid. It is the Forest Club, and I'm pretty sure that high dive comes down this year.
