Win tickets to Star Wars in Concert at Toyota Center

Star War In Concert: Toyota CenterStar War In Concert: Toyota CenterAside from Episodes I and II, I can’t recall the number of times I’ve watched the rest of the movies in the Star Wars saga. Every time I do, I get a euphoric chill for the two seconds that follow the LucasFilm logo. That first sharp wave of John Williams’ baton invokes a mighty noise, The Star War’s theme song; and as we read the crawl, the music prepares our brain to tune in to the Force.

The soundscape of the Star Wars saga is some of modern day’s most recognizable symphonic music. Pieces like the Imperial March and Duel of Fates are very emotive songs for any nerd, and have a strange ability to evoke confidence. Or maybe I’m the only one that feels the Imperial March is a battle cry to Force Choke everyone.

On Sunday, Toyota Center will host Star Wars: the Concert and, while it’s no Star Wars On Ice, its sure to be impressive on many levels. Hosting the evening will be Anthony Daniels (yes, C-3P0 Anthony Daniels), one of the droids we weren’t looking for. Threepio will be joined on stage by a full orchestra, and an LED screen of Deathstar proportions. Music from all six of the Star Wars movies will be performed, and I’m still holding my breath for the chance to hear Carrie Fisher’s “Life Day Song” from the holiday special. Ahem.

The Center will open up early, because LucasFilm is bringing a part of Skywalker Ranch to the show. Costumes, props, artifacts, and artwork will be on display. Try not to drool on the glass, although I’ll be the first to do so. And since this is a special event, there’s something that can’t be missed. In the words of the great yogurt, MERCHANDISE! MERCHANDISE! MERCHANDISE! I’ve peeked at the shirts, and unless you’ve got some pretty sick Jedi Mind Tricks, make sure to bring some funds.

It’s going to be a great show, and maybe we can throw an Ewok-style celebration for the afterparty. Who’s with me? If you have kiddos that love Star Wars, don’t be a nerf herder - bring them! It’s a great way to introduce them to the “culture”. The concert starts at 6 p.m., while exhibits are open at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25th.

Tickets are on sale at ToyotaCenterTix.com; but the Force is strong here at 29-95, and we’re giving away a pair. Sadly, the Lightsaber battle royale I had in mind was not approved, so instead just answer a few questions. The contest is open to the likes of Jedi masters, Padawans, and even gungans, so the questions won’t be so hard.

Email the answers to movies@29-95.com by Oct. 22 at 3 p.m., and we’ll pick a winner on Oct. 23.

    Contest questions:
    1. True or False, Spielberg’s E.T. makes a cameo in a Star Wars movie.
    2. “I’ve got a ___ feelin’ about this.”
    3. Who’s your favorite bounty hunter?
