Billy Currington
Country singers Billy Currington and Sara Evans light up the Fourth of July — along with fireworks, of course — at Freedom Over Texas.
The annual event happens 4-9 p.m. July 4 at Eleanor Tinsley Park at Buffalo Bayou, along Allen Parkway. Tickets are $8, and children ages 5 and under free.
Evans headlined the same event in 2008, and Currington performed at RodeoHouston in 2011. The pair has almost a dozen No. 1 hits between them, including Evans’ recent ‘A Little Bit Stronger.’
Opening act on the main Freedom Stage include the Ernest Walker Band, Andy Vargas, singer for Carlos Santana; saxophonist Eric Demmer; Tamar Davis, best-known for ‘Beautiful, Loved and Blessed,' her Grammy-nominated duet with Prince; and Brent Carter, lead singer for the Average White Band (and formerly of Tower of Power). There will also be more local music and “a few surprise national acts.”
Returning this year are the a beer garden, the Bud Light Texas Volleyball Championship Series Finals and a kid zone. The Family Fitness Challenge Area will include activities sponsored by the Houston Aeros, Houston Astros, Houston Dynamo, Houston Rockets and Houston Texans.

Thank you for bringing Billy Currington back to Houston. He is the absolute best. I can hardly wait.
generic country singer
Dull, Lame, etc etc etc etc
THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!! I CANNOT WAIT!!!
So who are the stars and when will they be announced?
Billy Currington and Sara Evans. Can you not read?
Sarcasm. Do you understand it?
Sara Evans, hot and sexy!
Typical Houston cheap low grade entertainment for the 4th as usual!
Just because this is Texas doesn't mean that everyone listens to country music. Can we please have someone that ISN'T country???
Tamar Davis is not a country artist. She is high-energy, rock, r & B, pop. You don't want to miss her. I think she will be a huge assest to this show and Houston!
Yee ha! You Go Houston! Currington is the greatest. Right alongside with the Boston Pops Orchestra this will be a night to remember!
