Daniel Johnston doesn't play too many shows about town despite the fact that he's a Waller resident. But the beloved cult singer-songwriter/artist did a set at Ghoulsfest last month (here is my curated guide to his catalog, but different fans have different favorites) and he'll celebrate his 50th birthday in January with a show at Fitzgerald's. Johnston turns 50 on Jan. 22, but he'll celebrate with a Jan. 14 set, which is currently being billed as a "with friends" deal that will include several local bands.
