For ex-Texans cheerleader Lindsay Slott, performing in front of rabid football fans on the sidelines is a big departure from dancing in front of rabid Justin Bieber fans.

The 25-year old hopeful is going to try though. Slott will get the opportunity to try out for Bieber’ s upcoming world tour at 6:30 Thursday at Planet Funk Academy in River Oaks.

Slott will take part in an online audition and will tape a routine with renowned choreographer Shawn Welling. The taping is open to the public and features members from the local dance community. Most auditions take place in person and agencies require immediate residency in what dancers call the “Mecca” of dance, Los Angeles. Slott and other dancers not based in California now have the chance to show Bieber’s camp what they got via social media campaigns and YouTube.

“It's really refreshing to see Justin Bieber's staff reaching out to the rest of the world, rather than just those who are only located in L.A, “ Slott said. “This gives ‘agent-less dancers' like myself a shot at doing something they've always dreamed of because they are utilizing the technological advantages before them.”

Slott is a trained hip-hop dancer who represented Houston on MTV’s second season of “America’s Next Best Dance Crew” and also danced in the “Monsters of Hip Hop” tour in 2006. Slott, who once performed in front of 70,000 people every Sunday with the Texans, will have a different approach going from the gridiron to the glitz and glam of pop tour.

“The process for this is different because the style of dance they are looking for is different and much more difficult, “Slott said. “ If I were to make this tour, I would be traveling around the world dancing in sold out stadiums for one of the biggest music artists in pop.”
