Free Press announces Summer Fest

FlyerFlyerFree Press announced its Summer Fest today. It's a good idea, we're just worried about the August-in-the-outdoors-with-little-shade part of the equation. Then again, that never hurts ACLFest.

Headliners: Of Montreal, Broken Social Scene, Voxtrot, Explosions in the Sky, The Sword, Octopus Project, and What Made Milwaukee Famous.

Locals: Like, just about everyone in the Houston indie scene.

    When: Noon-10 p.m., August 8-9.

    Where: Eleanor Tinsley Park.

How much do I have to fork over for this? An astounding low $7 presale, $12 two-day pass. Or the "Fancy Pants Premium Pass" for $35, which gets you a bit of free food and drink and "shorter bathroom lines." WORTH IT.

Wow! This lineup is amazing! At first I thought it was some type of joke when I got the e-mail from the folks at Pegstar. The "Fancy Pants" pass sounds great. I cannot wait for this to happen. Will people from Austin have to drive to Houston for a show/festival?

(also, have yall heard about the Texas Heat Music Festival? I heard from my friend Kwesi it is happening July 4th & 5th at Jones Plaza?!? crazy stuff.)

Just curious what was up with the TV commercial I've seen playing in Houston for this event? The one playing the Russian National Anthem. Yeah, that one.

Just a goof on the perception that all musicians and artists are communists
