Houston bands kickstart new music, tours

    The million-dollar success of Amanda Palmer's Kickstarter campaign has inspired more musicians to take to the crowd-funding platform. Including several Houston acts:

    Grammy nominee Tamar Davis raised $30,000 to fund a music video.

    Rock band the Last Place You Look soared past its $7,000 goal to fund a national tour. The final tally was almost $11,000.

    Craig Kinsey of the Sideshow Tramps has raised $1,640 of his $3,500 album goal, with 10 days to go.

    The 71's raised $13,500 from fans for a new album.

    Country singer Miss Leslie raised more than $11,000 for her upcoming third album and e-book.

    Christian-pop duo Jason & deMarco funded a live album with more than $16,000 from fans.

    Country singer Savannah Berry raised more than $10,000 to market and promote her current EP.

    Sheila Marshall raised more than $10,000 for a new CD.

    Christian singer Mayra Alvarez has raised more than $8,000 of her $22,000 album goal.

    Alkari raised almost $3,000 for an album.

    The Robbie Seay band set a $16,500 goal for a new album and hit almost $25,000
