Katie Armiger enjoys big Billboard debut

I knew the time, and the songs, were right for Katie Armiger to truly break. And now, she has the numbers to prove it.

The Sugar Land singer's fourth album, "Fall Into Me," sold more than 12,000 copies its first week of release. It enters the Billboard charts at No. 7 on Country Albums and No. 32 on the overall 200.

Those are impressive numbers for an independent artist without a big radio hit. First single "Better in a Black Dress" is still catching fire across the country.

I still remember getting Armiger to croon an a cappella tune almost five years ago, when she was just 16, after an interview:

Houston radio, it's time to play catch up.
