My thick skull was slow to process that the McKenzies' Aug. 29 show at Mango's was tagged its "Bye Bye" show, which the Press confirmed is not a "see you later" kind of show but rather something more permanent. It was confirmed by this post on their MySpace page:
"Hello everyone. Just wanted to let you know that The McKenzies will be breaking up. Our last show will be Aug. 29th at Mangos. I will let u know who else will be playing with us when i get some confirmations. Thanx for everything guys!! We love you!!"

This, after they played a new tune Sunday at the Free Press' Summerfest. Sadness.
I'll miss their enchanting power pop songs and him/her harmonies while sitting sadly in my dinosaur shirt. My kid -- a fan of The Devil Loves Us -- may never forgive them.

Umm, Andrew dude, on Monday we here at 29-95 mentioned the farwell show ( http://www.29-95.com/music/story/summer-fest-award-winners ). But nice to know that it's not considered "confirmed" until the Houston press says it's confirmed.
Yeah, I just saw your Awards post about 2 minutes after I posted that. Eep. Great pic of Hot Stuff. He proved a bolder dresser than I was.
