Guided by Voices. Not pictured: cancellation
Guided by Voices has cancelled its reunion show at Warehouse Live, which was set for Sept. 24.
All other shows on the band's current September tour seem to be a go save for one on Sept. 27 in Columbia, Mo. An Austin date between Houston and Columbia remains on the books.
A rep for the band attributed the cancellation to low ticket sales.

Completely disappointed they cancelled, I planned on getting my tickets at the door. And their new stuff has been really really good. Would've loved to hear "No Transmission" live.
Low ticket sales? Do they realize how many people buy tickets at the door? We already bought our tickets, and we are so disappointed. We've been waiting for this for years!
The real reason for the low ticket sales is the fact that the show was scheduled for a Monday night. Unless it is a really big name event, Houston music fans are too lame to go out on a Monday night (or any weekday). Which is why so many club level acts skip Houston. Even HOB fills its midweek schedule with cover bands. I appreciate Fitz and Rudz for trying, but they can't do it on their own.
This is horrible news. I had been very much looking forward to this show since it was announced. I have a number of friends who were planning on going, but didn't yet have a ticket. Emo's East will be getting my money instead.

You didn't write a terrific article touting the show THREE WEEKS IN ADVANCE.
Warehouse should know there would be limited advance sales for a Monday night in a big club. Why buy tickets online and pay the ridiculous service charges when you can just buy at the door. My money will go to Emo's along with the crowd I was bringing to the show.
