Dominic "Money Clip D" Brown via Trae's Twitter feed
Members of Houston's hip-hop community are mourning the reported death Dominic Brown, known as Money Clip D, a road manager described as the "right hand man" for rapper Trae and also the ringleader of Trae's project ABN.
Trae posted a statement on Twitter announcing his associate's death, which was confirmed by his spokesman, Nancy Byron.
"He was like a brother to Trae," said Byron. "Trae is just gutted."
Tweeted Trae, "Can't Believe My Brother Is Dead.... "
Another Houston rapper and friend of Brown's, TroubleSum, posted on her Facebook page: "My heart is heavy this morning. I lost a close friend who was like a brother to me Dominic "Money Clip D" Brown. Please keep the Brown family in your prayers as well as the entire ABN family. God bless you.
"My heart is sooo heavy...I can barely type let alone tlk! So I wld like to thank Everyone for the calls, fb msg's, vcml's, and tweets."
"Ice cold," Bun B tweeted. "Watching my young g's hurt like this is rough. It's hard to see a good man die. Treasure time with your loved ones.
"For Clip's loved ones, my 2 Trill family, my Gladiators and my ABN brothers, I'm saying a prayer to ask GOD to ease our pain."
Circumstances of Brown's death were not immediately clear; we have contacted authorities to learn the details.

It's really a shame that folks can't go out and just have fun anymore. It's even more of a shame that you can't go out and have some fun with your own people. I'll guarantee, he got shot over something terribly stupid.

I met Clip about 4 years back with Trae at a volunteer function in association with the Amobi Okoye Foundation's Tackle Hunger campaign to feed under served children. This man's character stood 5 feet in front of him. He was all about helping those less fortunate, especially the children of his city...Houston, Texas. Clip was arguably one of the best representations of those bred by our city. Never about the spotlight, 100% genuine, business-minded, and humble. I've heard sketchy details about the events that transpired but essentially this couldn't have been done by someone from our city simply because of the respect that Clip carried amongst his brethren in Houston. Throughout the years, we crossed paths numerous times and he was always one to greet an acquaintance.
Houston has lost a good man, child, and father. To his ABN family, there's nothin that can ease that pain but time. To those who knew him, live in accordance to how he would want you to. Make him look down on us all with smiles as he "chops it up" with those who were lost before him.
Hold ya head Trae. He's still with ya every step of the way. I know you know that will forever be true.
Houstonian you couldn't have said it better. Dominic was a real stand up dude. Anything he's ever done was done out of love for his people, his community, & his city. This person who has taken his life has NO IDEA what he's done to ABN & the city of Houston. We all loved him so much. And we're all mourning. My heart & prayers go out to Trae, ABN, & his family.

I went to middle school with Dominic @ Olle in Alief. That dude has always had a BIG heart, but you would NEVER want to get on his bad side. He will truely be missed...R.I.P. to a REAL Alief G.

I still can't believe this is happening. This is truly heavy on my heart. I loved Clip so much. I am thankful to have him in my life. He is deeply missed and always loved.
