You could stand to try something different

A kindly man from the Indo-American Association gave me a call last week, wanting to let me know about a show the association is presenting, Kailash Kher, adding that he knew that I was a big fan of Bollywood.

Of course I am. Huge, huge fan. I have seen Lagaan, after all. I've even seen one of the most awesome movies on the planet, Koi... Mil Gaya, which has a man-boy and an alien and romance and dancing and pretty much anything you could ask for in a movie. Bollywood films are colorful, passionate, a little strange given American film convention, and, above all, musical. So I'll take that bait. Who is Kailash Kher?

The only person I know will give it to me straight on this guy is my friend Amy, Official Bollywood Stalker. I asked her if this guy is a big deal.

"I was actually going to go to this concert, but I saw him recently so I decided to save my money to go to a couple of other Bollywood things coming up. He is 100 percent a big deal to a under-40 crowd for those that have come from India recently (which is actually a lot of people). For those that are born and raised here in the US - I would say its like a 80 percent to 20 percent interest."

Without further ado, the most helpful thing I can do for you is offer some videos:

    8 p.m. Friday. Wortham Center. $27-$92.
