Houston food challenges really hit the spot

  1 of 12   Next

It's always good to find new ways to challenge yourself physically, and if you're going to take on a new sport, why not get a delicious meal in the process? Here's a look at our favorite Houston-area eating challenges by Syd Kearney. Employee Adrian Briceno takes a deep breath before attempting the e-Nom-mous challenge at Nom Nom Noodle House Sunday Sept. 16,2012.The challenge pits the diner against two pounds of noodles and two pounds of meat and one enormous bowl of pho.

I'd rather eat the 48 oz steak at Shula's.

Everybody eats pho with a fork

That looks like a bowl of water and dog food kibble..... yuck!

Things like this makes me ashamed. I have seen starving children around the world eating thrash in dumps and then I see wastes of food like this, I can only be ashamed.

Eating thrash? Thrash is a verb meaning 'to beat'. If they were eating thrash that would be worse than eating trash, at least trash wouldn't physically hit them. I'm sure the eating contest losers would be happy to give the leftovers that caused them to lose to the unidentified 'thrash eaters' you have personally seen in places 'around the world'.

So buy a bunch of food and ship it to Africa. how does a big bowl of pho solve the food problems of Africa ?

oh please, really? Ashamed? lol
You poor thing, you must really be in constant turmoil, if you're so worried about people starving in africa, send them a food package, then you won't be ashamed.

Eating all of that food will not give you satisfaction, but it will give you the trots.

This is absolutely ridiculous, what is this? the competition of who eats more and gets fatter faster? wow like this city isn't already one of the fattest???? encourage exercise and downsizing food portions to 50% as well as the check... win-win situation....

Tejas Tue, 09/25/2012 - 8:22am

You can blame this on Man vs. Food and Epic Meal Time

Tahoe Tue, 09/25/2012 - 8:26am

I wouldn't eat that, it looks nasty!

DavidinPearland Tue, 09/25/2012 - 2:23pm

I wouldn't eat that either or anything off a food truck(aka...roach coach)........

sirius Tue, 09/25/2012 - 2:59pm

The flavors probably meld well but it looks like something I would regurgitate.
