When she spends as much time on city flood drainage as she does gay rights, THAT will be when she makes news.

Disagree, the Mayor is capable of multi-tasking. I am an active participant in my government as a civic club board member and attend various functions NOT RELATED TO GAY RIGHTS...I have sen the Mayor at many different functions -- none of them having to do with gay rights. Also, contrary to the article NOH8 is also a stance about bullying of any kind -- I support this awareness. For me your comment is unfair and inaccurate. When was the last time you watched council, attending a CIP meeting, or other city event, etc for you to make a fair judgment?

Ummm, there were THOUSANDS that participated at U oh H! Hope to see follow up on that... Proud to be a Houstonian that supports EVERYONE.

If the mayor invested all the time she promotes her sexual preference into doing her job, she MIGHT be an average mayor. As Houston's controller, she was not wasting taxpayer money on publicity on her private life. Now she hypocritically does exactly what she promised NOT to do when she was elected. Another lying politician promoting herself and not the city. Houston's record for unprofesssional mayors continues to drop to new lows.

Annonymous Fri, 10/19/2012 - 6:27am

She is a hard working and insightful public servant. Sounds like you just have an issue with her sexual orientation. Obviously, the rest of Houston does not believe your comments or she would not have been elected and re-elected for numerous positions since 1996. "Lying"??? Come on...

Terry Fri, 10/19/2012 - 9:08am

Agreed !

Sheryl Fri, 10/19/2012 - 3:16am

Seems like you haters don't understand what NOH8 means. Mayor Parker is a good mayor.

KristinaC Fri, 10/19/2012 - 8:46am

I would love to participate in the NOH8 campaign. This is the civil rights issue of my generation.

Joseph Fri, 10/19/2012 - 8:58am

Proud that our mayor is continuing to push prejudiced views out of the mainstream, as a representative of a major city should. Anti-gay people: demographics are not in your favor. Get over it and move on with your lives.

RBBR Fri, 10/19/2012 - 10:22am

Isn't it ironic ... somebody is making a ton of money off this NOH8 "campaign".

jww Fri, 10/19/2012 - 10:27am

It is good to see that our Mayor being gay has not affected the way she conducts business at city hall. Anybody who still believes that a gay person will not have a gay agenda as a politician is delusional. Just more lies to add to the list.

IVotedSoICanComplain Fri, 10/19/2012 - 11:55am

How about doing something about the scurge of violent crime and gangs that has this city in it's grips Mayor!!!!!!
Your own personal agenda can wait until you are out of office.
Do the work of ALL THE PEOPLE!!!!!
Sigh..... maybe next election we'll get someone in office who can make a difference in ALL of Houstonians lives.

Steven St Croix Fri, 10/19/2012 - 11:56am

the mayor is awful. cant wait till she is out

EDubs Fri, 10/19/2012 - 12:08pm

I don't have a problem with the mayor promoting NOH8. It sounds like something I should be reading into to know more about. The problem I have with our city government is its lack of understanding and practicality. We have rape kits that the city PD and government have failed to take care of for several years, but yet they want to target adult businesses to pay for their mismanagement. Adult businesses may not be the cleanest, but to do a wide sweep of charges that get passed to customers is not right. And no, not all customers are perverts and miscreants. Some just like to have a few beers with friends and look at beautiful women...something it seems like the mayor and I have in common.

LaKeisha Fri, 10/19/2012 - 2:16pm

I agree with the awareness of violence towards any sexual orientation, everyone has rights and beliefs and according to Christianity husband-husband, wife-wife, girlfriend-girlfriend, -boyfriend-boyfirend....Scientifically it was not meant to be "love has no gender" as they say, but I would protest NO VIOLENCE towards what some people think is morally wrong... other than you live your life the way you want I don't judge I just have my opinions and people can't force people to go along with something they feel is right I'M AGIANST GAY, LESBIANS my beliefs ( Why do I get attacked because I don't believe in it NOT FAIR either) but I WILL NOT be force to like it I deal with it and I would NEVER harm anyone because they choose to be Gay...

Rose124 Fri, 10/19/2012 - 3:13pm

This is why she wants to raid all the City pension funds. To fund her own projects

Chubby Fri, 10/19/2012 - 3:14pm

No issues with the Mayor doing her Gay & Lesbian thing what so ever - what I do have a issue with is not getting a Shuttle and losing a major airline like United/Continental to Chicago. As for why the Mayor get elected - Houston's citizens have the lowest turn out at the Polls during the Mayor election of any of the top 10 Cities in the US - this will change in Nov 13 and Mayor Parker will fade in history very quickly - she really has not been that impressive or do much good for most of Houston's citizens!
