Sunday-Thursday: 7 a.m.-9 p.m.
Friday-Saturday: 7 a.m.-11 p.m.
Looking for a slice of Austin in the Heights (aka: good food that does its best to outweigh the disinterested service)? Look no further than this non-bar version of Onion Creek, where you can get great salads, burgers and sandwiches in a Hill Country-themed dining room. It's just too bad that the waitstaff stands mere feet from your table chattering on while you wonder where your check is.
Vibe: As in Austin, a nice shirt is unacceptable here.
Alison Cook says: Gary Mosely of Onion Creek Coffeehouse fame has fashioned a just-right neighborhood hangout on a sleepy Heights corner. The burgercentric menu is Texas comfort food with a progressive twist, in the form of distinctive condiments (Tabasco mayo, creamy Serrano dressing ) and such non-carnivorous fare as buffalo mozzarella and arugula on focaccia. Ask for your half-pound lumps of ground sirloin rare, lest they be overcooked. The Triple Bypass Burger, with bacon, Cheddar and a fried egg, is pure wickedness.
