Badu seen here not in a bathtub: (Universal/Motown photo)
UPDATE: Ms. Badu was none too happy with the video, posting this response on her official site:
"The video link that was erroneously posted on Pitchfork by the Flaming Lips of the Music Video 'The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face', which features Erykah Badu, is unedited and unapproved.. Sorry!! We, the Flaming Lips, accept full responsibility for prematurely having Pitchfork post it. It has outraged and upset a segment of fans and we apologize if we offended any viewers!!! This is a Flaming Lips video which features Erykah Badu and her sister Nayrok and is not meant to be considered an Erykah Badu or Nayrok statement, creation, or approved version.”
Badu [1] and Coyne [2] have since wasted spent much time on Twitter retweeting responses, ranting at each other and acting like children.
"I have spoken 2Wayne several times on phone. He has disregarded what he has done &masks it by misleading his fans into thinking hes innocent," Badu tweeted earlier today.
"He is now enjoying the shine of exploiting a friend out of desperation 2 sell his record. I Wish him well.. And his fans."
"Dang!!!!! @fatbellybella you really know how to do it!!!! You hatin on me has gotten the video 100,000 more views !!!LOVE LOVE LOVE," Coyne replied.
He then tweeted this photo, adding, "Hey @fatbellybella I kissed it!!!! Thanks!!!!!!"

The shot is a (juvenile) reference to the video, which has since been removed from YouTube. Badu is still responding to fans and Coyne's wife [3] via Twitter.

Chalk this up to a missed Free Press Summerfest opportunity.
We loved sets from both the Flaming Lips and Erykah Badu over the weekend. Both a little weird, whimsical and wonderful. Put them together, and what do you get?
Roberta Flack, booty glitter, ribbon dancing and lots of questionable liquids.
The Lips released a Record Store Day project dubbed 'the Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends' in April, and it featured collaborations with Badu, Ke$ha, Bon Iver and Coldplay. A video for the Badu track, a cover of 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,' was recently released. It's an expectedly odd, art-rock take on the tune and boasts full-on nekkidness.
Click HERE [4] to see the clip. But be warned if you're offended by fake blood, female nudity or Coyne twirling shiny swatches of material.
Badu previously undressed in her controversial clip for 'Window Seat,' which was shot in Dallas. But the body here belongs to her sister, Nayrok.
In the video above, Coyne talks about the 'Heady Fwends' release.
