Marie LeNotre, founder and director of Houston’s Culinary Institute LeNotre [1], will be awarded the French Knight of the National Order of Merit Medal by chef Daniel Boulud on Friday, Sept. 28 during a ceremony at Culinary Institute LeNotre.
Boulud, who will be in Houston to prepare a dinner for the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Foundation fundraiser on Sept. 29, will present the award that recognizes French citizens and foreign nationals for distinguished civil or military achievements.
Boulud, a world renowned chef, is also chairman of the board for the Bocuse d’Or Foundation. He, Thomas Keller and Jerome Bocuse all are participating in the World Master Chefs Dinner [2] to benefit the Harris Country Sheriff’s Office Foundation. Tickets start at $2,500. The chefs will be touring the college and addressing students the same day; 12 students will be assisting the chefs during the fundraising dinner.
LeNotre and her husband, pastry chef Alain Lentore, are the owners of Culinary Institute LeNotre. Marie also is the past president of the Houston chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier.
