UPDATE, PART TWO: Michelle Williams has pretty much quashed all those Destiny's Child reunion rumors over at People magazine: [1]
"I'm going to be in the musical Fela!," she told WRUG Media in a recent interview. "I hate to disappoint the people and tell them that it's not true."
Williams is headlining a world tour of the Tony Award-winning show, which kicks off Tuesday in Washington, D.C. According to the show's website, there are two performances of Fela! at D.C.'s Sidney Harman Hall, at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday, which would make it difficult to be in New Orleans for the game without help from an understudy.
"I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry," Williams said of the reunion rumors.
UPDATE: Mashable has the premiere of the sexy, smooth new Destiny's Child track, "Nuclear," HERE [2].
US Weekly is reporting that Destiny's Child will indeed reunite [3] for the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show.
"Insiders tell Us the "Crazy in Love" singer will open the much-anticipated show solo; midway through her performance, Williams and Rowland will appear onstage and launch into a short medley of the group's hits, culminating in a brand-new song, "Nuclear," their first original material in more than eight years.
"After, Beyonce will take center stage again for the big finale, which is said to include the debut of a track from her upcoming fifth album."
I'm 'bout to lose my breath.
Beyoncé took to her official website [4] today to announce a new Destiny's Child album. Sort of.
The collection, titled "Love Songs," includes the trio's "most sensual and romantic recordings" spanning 1997-2004, including "Cater 2 U," "Killing Time," "Second Nature," and a hit cover of "Emotion." Most of these tunes were not commercial singles. It's due Jan. 29.
The highlight is "Nuclear," the first new Destiny's Child recording since 2004. It was produced by Pharrell Williams, who cowrote the track with DC's Michelle Williams, James Fauntleroy and Lonny Bereal.
Additional tracks include the Timbaland remix of "Say My Name" and Kelly Rowland's "Heaven."
Queen B is scheduled to perform during the Super Bowl XLVII halftime show. Will we see a Destiny's Child reunion? YES, PLEASE. Maybe the new collection is a warm-up.
Destiny's Child has sold more than 60 million records on the strength of four studio albums, a remix record and a hits collection.
The announcement comes on the heels of Beyoncé's steamy GQ cover [5].
Her HBO documentary airs Feb. 16, and she's also rumored to be a part of Justin Timberlake's comeback project, announced earlier today via Twitter [6].
