Oysters Bill Olive
We love the black and white dining room with its warm wood hues and smartly nostalgic fishing photos. The food is great - perfectly fried oysters, the gumbo is deftly seasoned - and we haven't found another Houston kitchen that knows what a debris po'boy should be.

These folks know what they are doing. They do a great job of making people feel welcome and treating everyone to wonderful food and good times.
I think Texas Restaurant Guy ate at another place and THOUGHT it was Danton's. We were a party of 6 and we got seated immediately on Friday night. The gumbo was heavenly! The drinks were top-notch and the service was flawless. Plus, it wasn't overly pretentious and the portions were respectable. I'm making this place my go-to for serious seafood!
I've been there several times and have yet to experience poor service. Moreover, the waitstaff I've encountered has been exceptionally down to earth, personable and attentive. Even when the restaurant is empty, the outstanding service has ensured that we've had a good time. And we dress like regular folk ;)
And seriously, the food is out of this world. Our favorite is the jumbo lump crab cake served with the poblano sauce (tops in Houston), but we're also quick to recommend the baked crab Balinese and the crab-stuffed shrimp. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.
I love Danton's. I have gone there dressed up and dressed down and have been greeted warmly every time. I highly recommend the Crab Danton, the seafood gumbo, the pecan crusted rainbow trout and the Bloody Danton (their bloody mary made with their gumbo... it's heaven in a cup). Our servers have always been incredibly attentive and helpful. We eat there often.
If you like bad service and average food you will love this place. We waited for 10 minutes and the food was totally average at best. All three of us agreed we would def not be back.
Waited 10 minutes? What is that? Do you expect your food to already be on the table when you arrive? You're definitely in the minority. It's considered one of the very best seafood restaurants in Houston.
