5 locations, including Woodway at Voss, Meyerland, Highland Village, Town & Country and Sugar Land
Upscale Tex-Mex. Is that a misnomer? This attractive, locally owned restaurant prides itself on its from-scratch margaritas, made-table side guacamole and its super-rich tres leches. Olé.
Vibe: Rich, attractive people enjoying the company of other rich, attractive people.
Happy Hour Specials: Monday-Friday: 4-7 p.m.
Los Cucos STINKS....will not ever go back there. Escalante's is just OK. I did like the empanadas.
The food at Los Cucos is barely edible - they definitely use Velveeta type cheese whether in the nasty liquid form or grating it and trying to pass it off as real cheese. I agree with many of the posters on this thread regarding Gringo's. I've eaten at Gringo's many times and while it may not be the best in Houston, it is certainly very good and a great value dollar wise. It's a great family spot. You can actually take a family of four and get our for under $50 (sans alcohol of course). I think their beef fajitas ($12) are superior to those of Lupe Tortilla ($16 and outrageous at $19 for take-out). LT also runs the beef through a tenderizer and you end up with meat similar to what is used for chicken fried steak - gross). Gringo's also does a great job and packing "to-go" meals. Everything is in a separate container and then nicely packed in an individual box instead of crappy styrofoam.
I still can't believe the number of people that call Los Cucos Mexican Food....it's a step above Taco Bell....gross!
1 star Tex-Mex
5 fork price
over cooked, under seasoned, under poured
Need I say more
Mexican food for white folks....with bland talents. Diane Kennedy would not approve
The best Mexican food in Pearland is Gringo's hands down.
LOS CUCOS THEY OPEN RESTAURANT FASTER THAN STARBUCKS
Blah...... And for the price.....
Overcooked beef and chicken, rubbery shrimp, bland rice (I mean REALLY bland).
Great margaritas and salsa, but that's not nearly redeeming enough. WAY better options on the SW side than this Sugar Land location.
First and last time was at the Meyerland location. Mediocre food with a Meyerland price premium. Gringo's or Pappasito's would have been much better choices.
escalantes is to damn expensive go to gringos, better food better quality
They are overated and overpriced Tex-Mex. Tried the Sugerland & Meyerland locations with the same results. There queso has a unnatural white color to it! I also saw bugs flying inside the windows at the Meyerland location......
Hello!!! White cheese...it's the best queso in town. If white cheese is keeping you away, it's probably a good thing. A bit pricey relative to Gringo's and Los Cucos, but WOW what a difference in freshness and food quality. DavidinPearland should find an old Monterrey House, he'd be in heaven.
Wow...you think that bright orange color is natural??? White queso is the color of the actual cheese, and is used many places around the US. For some reason TX has bright orange cheese everywhere, but that's not typical. Velveeta orange is the color that's not natural, LOL.
Aother carpetbagger who thinks what's best for Texas.....GO BACK!!!
David, which Mexican restaurant in Pearland do you enjoy most. We really like Del Pueblo but always looking for the opinions of others. Thanks!
Las Rosas Mexican Restaurant is the best in Pearland TX. Much better than those Gringo chains....In Texas the cheese was always yellow....I guess no one on here was born in the Houston area...
That white cheese has no flavor!!!!!
We liked the food and margaritas at Don Pico's but the Saturday crowds are unbelieveably unruly and LOUD.
I like the Los Cucos in Pearland personally!
We order from them at work. Whatever guacamole they sent was unnaturally bright green and was possibly the culprit for my food allergy which followed soon after.
Since they've got five locations, you'll never see Escalante's on a Houston top ten list- but their ceviche is definitely on mine.
