3 locations, including Scott @ OST (inside HEB), Original and Wilcrest/Murphy
There are two types of people in the world -- those who love traditional Southern-style cooking and those who lie about it. Frenchy's is for the former. This isn't fork and knife food. It's a great, cheap place for college students who may be a little strapped for cash. Though the standard side order is french fries, try the Louisiana dirty rice. If you're at the original location on Scott Street, make use of the drive-thru. Seating inside the small building is sparse and not very comfortable.
The Kiby sreet location is closed due to tax issues.
Never had Frenchy's, and it would appear that they've built their reputation on feeding TSU and UH students. What kept me away were the ubiquitous city health code citations reported by the late Marvin Zindler on his famous Friday night restaurant segment. So, no surprise that QC suffers at all other locations. I'll stick to Popeye's, thanks.
The original location on Scott Street has been feeding hungry TSU and UH students for 4 decades now, and is stil the best. The other locations tend to suffer from quality-control issues (the last time I oredered chicken from the Wilcrest/Murphy location, it was overcooked).
Pretty damn good fried chicken. The biscuits are good too. Great hangover food.
