Jim Goode's sliced brisket sandwich on house-made jalapeño-cheese bread is a modern barbecue classic. Just about everything else in this Texabilia-crammed neo-joint upholds the state's honor, too: Czech sausage, duck, turkey and the lush pecan pie. (Bought whole, this pie makes one of Houston's best souvenirs.)

Maybe I caught this place on an off day, but I was not impressed by the food. I'm not really one to complain, but what you pay for is not translated into the quality of taste nor quantity. I don't want to bad mouth an establishment, but when several people voice the same feeling from various locations, it makes it more difficult to argue against.

Dined at the Kirby location, not impressed. Wasn't bad although nothing to write home about, and overpriced. More snob appeal due to the West U crowd giving them props.

I must admit to being a creature of habit and
only eat the brisket and regular sausage from
the Kirby location. I have never been dissappointed
with the taste and quality and I bring my customers
there all the time as well. I am sorry some of you
have had such negative food experiences.

I didn't order turkey if you must know. I ate it at a family gathering. TO GO FOOD! None of the food is good. I have eaten at the I-10 location numerous times when someone else buys because I will not spend my money on inferior food. Now go tell them to take every thing off the menu except brisket. Czech sausage, duck, turkey and lush pecan pie. That's at the top of the page if you care to read it.

The best of the Goode Company's is the Taqueria

I've heard about them for years and recently visited there for the first time in my life. I got the chopped beef sandwich and was traumatized. The food is horrible and the sauce OMG. Will NEVER eat there again.

Why are you even ordering turkey at a barbeque place. Brisket is always great. I eat here several times a month and am never disappointed. Their sides are also great.

The turkey is terrible and all the food is over rated

By far, their Brisket is the best thing as far as BBQ goes. Everything else is just ok, not bad.

A classic. Always good, always fun. Try the Czech sausage.
