A slice of country in the midst of cosmopolitan Houston, Goode’s Armadillo Palace fits the bill for those looking for something of a roadhouse theme park. It feels like Midtown trying to go country most of the time, while on occasion you can catch some pretty great live music for minimal cover. The drinks aren’t anything too special, the place is barely tolerable when crowded and you’re sure to run into a bunch of guys who are still firmly entrenched in college (whether or not they actually attend a university), but if you want to feel twangy without heading to a real cowboy bar, this is where you’ll end up.
