Chicken with preserved lemon Karen Warren : 29-95
You can’t go wrong at this sleek Midtown wine bar. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is filled with gems like six-hour braised lamb shank and grilled octopus with chili sauce. And the wine menu is hailed for its value.
Alison Cook says: Energetic chef Charles Clark keeps his Spanish-inflected menu fresh with local and seasonal ingredients. Witness a mind-expanding buffalo mozzarella, a juicy tomato salad in sherry vinaigrette, and fine fish specials. Rich sauces can get the better of a dish but some work big-time. The wine list thrills with its range and bargain prices, and the urbane crowd invigorates. Don't miss the mocha-espresso bread pudding, or an al fresco table when the weather's fine.
Great food but bad customer service.
My wife and friends visited the restaurant on 1/12 for dinner and when we arrived, we asked the valet parker to let us park ourselves. We told them that we were OK giving them the tip but for personal reasons and previous experiences with parking attendants, we didn't want them to park our car. The valet parking had several vacancies and it didn't seem to much to ask. Unfortunately the attendants would not let us park and the restaurant's manager would not help us either. The attendants told us that they could not park a SUV. I pointed out that there were two SUVs already there (a Mercedes Benz and a Tahoe). Our Range Rover would not be less than those already parked there. The restaurant manager said that he would let us park if we left the keys with the attendants.
I don't know why it was so difficult for them to let us park ourselves. We had valuable things in the car and we did not want to leave them with total strangers and I'm sure our luxury car was not going to devalue the parking view (especially when they had a Tahoe in the mix).
We decided to leave the restaurant and we will not be recommending the place or host business meals there anymore. The dinner experience starts at the door and goes all the way to dessert. Who needs to go to a place where you have to explain why you need your park your car. Would they be responsible for missing objects or valuables?
