It's creaky. Shambling. Maniacally funky. And at noon there's a line out the door. That's because this none-too-welcoming joint turns out some of the best blue-collar tacos in town. Specify corn or flour tortillas, then choose seasoned squash, no-fuss griddled fajita tips, nopalitos or whatever looks good on the steam table. Breakfast rocks, too. Cash only.

Driving down Washington among all of the fancy new condos, nightclubs and trendy shops, you will drive past a complete eyesore. It's a horrible bright yellow color. The parking lot, the victim of a meteor shower. A long line of people is usually sticking out of the front.
It's also the home of some of the best Mexican food you can find in Texas.
Served cafeteria style, non-English speaking patrons will have no trouble pointing at what they want behind the glass. Several different meats are served, each with their own blend of seasonings.
These tacos are so good, they don't even bother putting cilantro or onions on them.
If you're from Texas, you were probably raised on cheese enchiladas. But you've never had cheese enchiladas like these. Ever. Try the cheese enchilada, and get them to dump a scoop of spicy fajita meat on top.
Also try their nopales (cactus) tacos, which (if I remember correctly) ranked #2 in Texas Monthly's famed "The 63 Tacos You Must Eat Before You Die" list of 2006. If you've always wanted to try cactus tacos but never have, dig into these. And make sure you get a giant cup of Horchata or something to wash it down with.
If you're looking for somewhere to go on your lunch break, this may not be the spot if you're limited on time. By 11:30 every day, the line extends outside the front door, and you might be getting back a little late after waiting in the line, gorging on amazing Mexican cuisine, and climbing out of the cavernous parking lot.
