It's your typical Mexican restaurant. There's not really anything surprising about the décor or the food. You can sit on the dining porch. They serve simple Tex-Mex fare - enchiladas, fajitas, and guacamole. You know the drill. The only thing that sets Spanish Village apart from other Mexican restaurants is the margarita. They're tart, lively and better than your ordinary restaurant 'ritas. Spanish Village has been around for a while so we suppose it's now a Houston institution, of sorts.
Want to fit in? Be spectacularly ordinary.
They must be doing something right, I first ate there in the early '70s. Not the best food, but better than some of the "hot" Mexican places.
Use to sit on the then open air patio in the '50's drinking pitchers of beer while attending U of H. You weren't required to order food then and of course we didn't.
This place does in deed suck BUT the margs are killer, made with a raspa and you can sure taste the tequila and/or the mohawk151 but the food!?!?!? Try Taco Bell on the way home instead you won't regret it!
I will go and drink a marg at this dump RIGHT NOW if I don't have to buy anything to eat. The frozen margs are killer with shaved ice from a raspa a la old school awesomeness, and you can definitely taste the tequila and/or mohawk101? but the food....try taco bell instead!
This place has been around since I was in High School. Probably got tired of all the underage kids drinking there and only ordering the cheapest thing
what! this place sucks!!
The man that runs this place is a grouch. I eat nacho's 99% of the time as my meal with a beer or margarita . Try the here, get an lecture, and they will tell you that you must order an entree to get alchol.
If they had an entree worth eating maybe I would try one.
LaTapia on Richmong and Woodhead, has great nachos and margaritas
