In December when it was reported that La Torretta Lake Resort was expected to go into foreclosure, restaurant fans speculated on what would become of Chez Roux, the Conroe resort’s fine dining room created by celebrated French chef Albert Roux.

At the time, a spokeswoman for the resort told the Chronicle’s Nancy Sarnoff, "hotel management assures our guests, members, neighbors and business partners that there will be no impact to the resort experience, and we do not anticipate any changes on property.”
The restaurant, which earned four stars from critic Alison Cook, is now closed.
Earlier this month, the resort announced the promotion of Matthew Gray to executive head chef. Gray has been with the restaurant since May 2009.
According to a news release, Gray is creating a new menu at the fine-dining restaurant currently in development to take the place of Chez Roux.
We’re awaiting to hear back from a hotel spokesman -- the resort is operated by Noble House -- about the details and direction of the new dining room.
UPDATE
A spokeswoman for the resort reports that ownership has decided to not release details at this time regarding the new restaurant concept."
WOW!, another over priced, poor food, and absymal service Yuppie restraunt closing... who'd have thunk it?
Gezzr...are your serious? Yuppie restraunt?? You must be jealous of people that make money. Perhaps if you learned the basics of spelling you could be in a different income bracket.
Who wants to drive all the way to Conroe? Unless you live there or have a lake house there.
Chez Roux was truly EXCELLENT... really a treat for fine dining! Check it out for a special moment.

Hasn't this been the norm will Alison in the last few years? Xuco Xicana was probably the last one I remember her raving about. Chef OUT!!
I am sad about the closing of Chez Roux. It was the best restaurant in the Houston area. It was the closest thing we had to an upscale New York City-type restaurant. It was a destination spot, part of the reason to stay at La Torretta. My fear is that it will be remodeled into a casual bistro, more accessible to the narrow, Texan palate, just like Felix 55 did. We have tons of casual and mid-scale restaurants already. Too yuppie for you? Go to Olive Garden. Leave us to our fine dining experiences in peace.
