Juan Mon's to celebrate its grand opening Sept. 12

Juan Mon's International Sandwiches will have its grand opening Saturday, Sept. 12, beginning at noon. (There's no rush, though, as the party will continue through 3 a.m.)

For months I've been watching the transformation of the quaint old gas station at the corner of Taft and Webster in Montrose.

Owner Juan Montero says the party will include "DJs, dancers, the whole nine."

An early menu on the restaurant's Web site shows some interesting sandwiches:

    • The London: fried egg, ham, cheddar and ketchup on wheat bread
    • The Berlin: sausage, fried potatoes, grilled onions, provolone, olive oil and mustard on wheat bread
    • The Buenos Aires: Chicken Milanesa, Mexican cheeses, avocado and chipotle on a flatbread
