Meet the two new men in my life: Ray and Juan Mon

Ray's Frank's & More is a cute little horror film-themed cafe that already is attracting the hipsters. Parking can be a bitch on weekdays, but on a Saturday morning, no prob.

First visit: The Clockwork Orange, a veggie dog with tomatoes, slaw, banana peppers and cheese.

I'm eager to return and try the scissor sticks (fried onion and jalapeno strips) and the Chupacabra (a chili dog topped with goat cheese, jalapenos and curry-infused ketchup.

Newer still is Juan Mon's in Montrose. The sandwiches are named for international destinations such Venice and Tokyo. And one wall of the restaurant is decorated with photos showing young owner Juan Montero's travels.
    The San DiegoThe San Diego
First visit: The San Diego, a bolillo filled with carne asada, fried potatoes, Oaxaca and Cheddar cheeses, sour cream, salsa and pico de gallo.

Second visit: The Santorini, which was lettuce, cucumber, onion, capers and feta on a baguette.

Next visit definitely will be for one of the breakfast-type sandwiches, specifically the London, a combo of fried eggs, ham, bacon, cheese and ketchup. Maybe I'll pass on the ketchup.
