    Kilburn’s opens third location
One of our favorite taverns has opened a third location in northwest Houston. Kilburn’s Tavern has opened at 24110 Northwest Freeway in a space formerly occupied by Salina’s Steakhouse. The casual, attractive dining room offers a full bar and a large menu with favorites such as Shepherd’s Pie, fish and chips and crab cakes. Call 281-256-8755.

Mardi Gras Grill now Woodrows Heights
If you’ve visited Mardi Gras Grill recently — and we have — you’ll have noticed some changes. (When we were there, the bar was in disarray as it underwent a substantial makeover.) The final piece of the puzzle was put in place with new signage. Mardi Gras is now Woodrow Heights.
The beer, wine and liquor program have been revamped, the patio covered and many back-of-house upgrades have been made.

    Pizza L’Vino opens on Waugh
We’re only one pizza in to exploring the menu, but Pizza L’Vino already has made quite an impression on us. The week-old take-out-and-delivery-only restaurant offers three styles of pizza, including New York-style hand-tossed, Chicago deep dish and ultra-thin crust, as well as a ridiculous number of customizing options: five types of sauces, a like number of cheeses, a gluten-free crust and toppings such as shaved ham, caramelized onions and hot and spicy giardiniera.
We opted for a deep-dish “Most Ordered” with red sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, black olives, sauteed mushrooms and Wisconsin mozzarella. With it’s golden crust and strikingly colorful sauce, it looked as good as it tasted.
In addition to pies, Pizza L’Vino also delivers wine and craft beers.

Too Bad that Dickey's BBQ at 6383 Westheimer is already out of business.

You might as well go by a gas station and pick up a sandwich and warm it in the microwave as eat a Dickey's.

I had the misfortune of eating at Dickey's on Taylor and it was awful. The chicken tasted like it had been microwaved. I couldn't even finish it. I'll stick with Hickory Hollow and Gabbys

We went to L'Vino during its soft opening. The owners were very nice and the "most ordered" was very good. It's a nice addition to the neighborhood.

I almost got confused on " The week-old take-out-and-delivery-only restaurant"... I thought to myself wait a minute....week-old pizza....but then I got it LOL. Ok so I may be a little slow today! This place seems awfully close to Star Pizza...they may have some competition now.

I've been to Mardi Gras Grill 3 times and each time the food was subpar: over cooked fish was my main complaint. The last time, no one ever came out to take our order on the patio although one of our party went in to remind them we were there. We went elsewhere after 20 minutes or so.

The last thing Houston Pavilions needs is more food options.

Tried Pizza L'Vino on Thursday. Ordered a NY style "Most Ordered".
Definitely not impressed. Sausage looked pretty substandard. The Crust was a joke.
Don't think Star Pizza will be shedding any tears.

Regarding Dickie's, their food is pretty garbage. Why it'd merit a 29-95 blog is beyond me.

I've eaten at Dickey's in Dallas and its the MacDonalds of BBQ. No thanks, we have too many great BBQ joints in Houston, they will never last here.

Blackened Shrimp Pasta from Kilburn's Tavern looks like glop slopped on a plate and looks like they used frozen cheap white shrimp to boot. Shellfish or any fish for that matter should not be combined with cheese.
