Yeah, we eat fried catfish for breakfast at the Breakfast Klub.: Syd Kearney : 29-95
Apparently Houstonians love chicken and waffles. The Breakfast Klub ran away with the votes in 29-95’s Houston’s Best Breakfast poll.
The Breakfast Klub earned double the votes of its nearest competitor and took 34 percent of the total votes. 59 Diner, House of Pies and Avalon Diner were near statistical ties at second, third and fourth.
Opened by Marcus Davis at 3711 Travis in Midtown in 2001, the Breakfast Klub serves breakfast and lunch. There’s almost always a line around the corner, but it moves quickly, so don’t let the sight deter you.
This week’s $100 gift-card winner is JamesinTexas, who reviewed Baby Barnaby's, 602 Fairview.
He writes:
“What’s not to love? Scott and the staff are phenomenally friendly and cheery; the orange-juice machine making the juice right in front of you is a source of endless contemplation; the vibe is always chill and comfy, though I love the booths more than the tables; and the food is spectacular!”
I could name several better breakfast stops than what's on this list: Kelley's, Egg & I, La Madeleine, and even New York Bagels on Hillcroft!!!!!!
la madeline? seriously? lol
That's exaclty what I was thinking. La Madeline? LOL
Egg & I really? Greasy and ordinary. Le Peep would be a better choice over Egg & I in my opinion. Yea for the Breakfast Club but my preferred b'fast spot is Baby Barnaby's on Fairview. Scott and the crew are fantastic and I love the fresh-squeezed o.j. with migas and a blackberry accented waffle!
SERIOUSLY? La Madeleine???
Egg and I?? La Madeleine??... talk about having a horrible food palette. I'm sure you also Think McDonalds and Burger King make the best burgers in town too, huh...
Post this....The winner of another "limited list" contest.
Amen!!!!!
Good spot, but nothing beats Whataburger taquitos at 3 AM... After a night of drinking.
I certainly agree it’s one of the most popular places to eat. The food is good, too. When I first ate their wings years ago, they tasted way too salty for my palette. Don’t know if I’ve just acquired a taste for them over the years or that was just a heavy-handed chef that day. But they DO have a fascination for TOO MUCH BUTTER on their grits! But, folks who eat there on a regular basis aren’t necessarily health nuts. Just sayin’.
Breakfast should ALWAYS be good. I mean, if you can't scramble a good egg, pop biscuits in and let the oven do the work, fry bacon....something is definitely wrong. Some of this is just over-the-top commenting. Let it ride! And P.S....there is NO SUCH THING as "too much butter" on grits! LOL!
Amen! No such thing as too much butter, period.
YOU rock, Chaz!
When I see the line, I don't want to go near that place.
I love this place, especially the fried pork chops. I don't think I've had a bad meal there. Ever.
harry's has the most diverse breakfast and is always fantastic...greek breakfast, central american, mexican, italian, etc...eggs benedict to die for...cant beleive it didn't make the top 2 or 3...
Harry's is good - Tacos-a-go-go is also good... Another hidden place is Langford Grocery... awesome B'fast!
The Tel-Wink Grill really should have been on the list, but I couldn't write it in because comments were disabled.
For once, Houston got it right. The wings, waffles, grits, potatos, fried pork chops are ALL stellar hella good.
The best breakfast in Houston is Tel-Wink Grill on Telephone Road......and a close second is Frank's a few blocks south on Telephone Road.......
Let me guess... you live on Telephone Rd.
LMAO, Chaz!!!!!!!
Just not appealing to me for breakfast. Fried wings, catfish, pork chops deep fried breakfast. Whew!
Can they deep fry the eggs, toast and grits?
Now THERE'S a thought, hmmmm. ACTUALLY, I've had fried grits and they aren't bad lol.
