Two styles of tea fare will be offered at the Four Seasons afternoon tea.: Four Seasons
Maybe “Downton Abbey” really has gotten into the bloodstream of pop culture. Houston gets a shot of a traditional British custom Wednesday, Feb. 15, when the Four Seasons begins Afternoon Tea service. To be served on the downtown hotel’s third floor, tea will be served each Wednesday and Saturday afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m.
Tea takers will have the choice between Texas Tea and International Tea service. Texas Tea will include poached quail egg with truffle aioli on Texas Toast, open-faced Texas rub roast beef with horseradish on pretzel bread, Mia Bella Farm goat cheese and Portobello mushroom profiterole and Gulf shrimp slider mini po-boy on Slow Dough bun. International tea comes with smoked Atlantic salmon pinwheel on rye, traditional cucumber and cream cheese on white bread, chicken salad on mini croissant and caprese tartlet.
Both tea services come with a selection of Rishi Teas, cherry scones, whipped mascarpone, preserves and four types of pastries. The cost? $36 per person ($42 with prosecco), plus tax and gratuity. Not a particularly high tariff for a particularly posh low tea.
Reservations recommended. The Four Seasons Houston, 1300 Lamar at San Jacinto; 713-276-4700.
