Every day is party time at Tony Mandola’s restaurant where the New Orleans Mardi Gras spirit looms large. But now through Fat Tuesday, Feb. 12, the popular Houston restaurant is gearing up for a big party and a very big giveaway.

Through Feb. 12, customers who purchase a $5 slice of King Cake will have a chance to win a weekend vacation for two in New Orleans, with round-trip airfare, a two-night stay at Audubon Cottages (one of New Orleans’ most charming boutique inns), and a $200 gift card at the famed Galatoire’s restaurant. The winner will be announced at the restaurant on Fat Tuesday; contestants need not be present for the drawing.

The restaurant also is hosting its First Annual Oyster Eating contest on Saturday, Feb. 9. A dozen mollusk lovers will compete for a $250 gift card to Tony Mandola’s and a permanent place on a special oyster plaque. And what’s a good party without good music? Houston’s acclaimed vocalist Yvonne Washington will perform jazz and R&B favorites on Feb. 9-10 and on Fat Tuesday.
