The Cooking Channel’s cameras will be rolling Sunday at Pizzitola's Bar-B-Cue - Best BBQ in town. Wanna bet the cameras stop to sample the food!

wow, shocking, everyone has a different opinion of what the "best" bbq in town is. why do we have to have this debate, along with the tex-mex debate, constantly? can't we all agree that different folks like different things about different bbq? when you all get the job scouting locations for the cooking channel, then you can pick a place everyone else will disagree with.

Why Pizzatola's? Much better bbq to be had in town.

    Pistolpete Tue, 01/31/2012 - 9:17pm

    Amen.

Agreed, Marcy B. My vote goes to Demeris BBQ on S. Shepherd for the brisket, and Hickory Hollow in the Heights for their links.

And authentic Carolina pulled pork bbq? No other place than Lyndon's on Hollister @ Hwy 290.

Havent been to Lyndons in years. Ive gotten to where I really like Rudys pulled pork.

Lyndons best pulled pork, no doubt. Their sausage is special too.

How about this, you start your own television show, then you can go visit any restaurant you choose, and that will also keep you too busy to complain about local places that get some attention....

Went to the Pollo Campero store at Bellaire a few years ago, it was pretty bad. They had a long way to learn about fried chicken.

Hi, I am the restaurant manager at our new Washington Ave. restaurant which opens 2/9. I saw your post and I wanted to invite you to try Bellaire again since we took over the day to day operations of the restaurant last year. I think you will notice some improvements we have made to that location and a huge commitment to making our food the best it can be. Also, we are opening a new location on Washington Ave this Thurs (Feb 9) and we’ll have a much larger menu with empanadas, sandwiches, etc. Ask for me if you decide to pay us a visit. Thanks. Mike Lee

I was fortunate to be on the invitees list for the Clear Lake opening of the new Pollo Campero latin theme. I was very impressed by the menu and the quality of the food there and am excited that now another location is opening within a mile or so of where I live. I think everyone will be surprised that this is not the salty fried chicken that we thought of Pollo Campero in year's past. This is going to be a great option for dining on Washington Avenue.

Methinks Pizzitola's was selected due to its close proximity to River Oaks. A high-rent location doesn't necessarily mean it's the best in town. Strack Farms in Spring should have been the go-to instead.

Agreed re Pollo Campero, unless they changed their fried chicken recipe they learned nothing on the curve.

Pizzitola's is in the middle of a "crack-house" neighborhood in transition to an upscale urban area. River Oaks??? cabbageroolsand coffee needs to get a map and learn Houston.... Pizzitola's has been there since the times when you had to have guard watch the parking lot at high noon, and prostitutes would approach you as you would come and go. He's braved the neighborhood thought much.....River Oak????

Spring IS NOT HOUSTON, they are visiting HOUSTON restaurants. Spring is considered South Dallas to true HOUSTONIANS!!!!!

Hi. My name is Mike Lee and I am one of Pollo Campero’s restaurant managers. I saw your comment and wanted to let you know that last year our corporate office took over the day to day operations of the Bellaire location. I hope you will give us another try. We pride ourselves on our fried chicken which is made fresh every day and based on a family recipe. Also, I’ll be managing our new location at Washington Ave. which opens on Thurs Feb 9. We’ll have a larger menu featuring some new recipes from Latin America like empanadas, tacos, etc. that we’d love you to try. Thanks, Mike
