Thanks RuhRoh for the education, here I thought that there are both liberals and conservatives that read the bible and go to church. Now I find out that the bible and church-goers are all evil right-wingers with a hell-bent conservative political agenda. Didn't know that all liberals and moderates were enlightened "atheist"

Wow. You just totally jumped the shark with your comment so I'll just let you have the final word on that...

Plenty of hater's posting reviews. I live on the east side and drive to Tony's now and again. The food has always been consistent. I,ve never found a Tex-Mex joint that has it ALL going on with food and drinks but I have a few favorites and Tony's is one of them. When Tony is there, he is friendly but as the owner, it would be rude to try to tie him up in a long conversation. I try to hit the off hours so the wait and parking are not an issue. To those that do not like Tony's display of his faith, sorry, it is HIS business. You are free to go elsewhere. I've eaten at places that are owned by gays and have tried them for the good food reviews and I've not been disappointed. I'd not expect them to take down decorations that I do not agree with nor give false bad reviews because of their lifestyle or political leanings. If you have not tried Tony's, do so sometime. You may like the place, you may not. It's your dollar and time.

As one of the "haters" posting about Tony's, I wanted to say that I was not looking for an apology or explanation from you or Tony. I realize it is his business and applaud him for it. Part of the dining experience comes from the decor/atmosphere and I was simply making the point that their political and religious themed decor makes me feel uncomfortable/uneasy and wanted to inform others of my experience and what they can expect. In no way shape or form do I expect them to take down their decor. My review of their food being "just okay" has nothing to do with their decor but my honest opinion.

The bible quotes and the posting of the country's founding documents all over this place is creepy. They are obviously pushing an extremely conservative agenda that really rubs me the wrong way. The food was always just okay anyway, so it was easy to let this place go. I am sure there are people that will be inclined to go to this place because of their politics though. Oh well...to each his own.

Well said....to each his own...there are alternatives to places that embrace the Sodom Gomorah lifestyle

I don't understand the fuss about this restaurant. It is always packed and has been for a very long time. I am a native Houstonion and eat out at a lot of restaurants often. The food here is VERY bland, the chile con queso is basically just melted cheese, no other flavor. I'm guessing this is a mexican restaurant for those who don't like any spice in their food. If you travel about a mile from there, Alma Latina is worlds better! Best Cheese enchiladas!

not impressed Fri, 08/20/2010 - 9:33am

For the longest my husband and I have heard about this place, so we went and we only waited five minutes for a table. It was crowded and loud. We ordered Margaritas and that was the only thing good about this place!! The waiter missed up my order. I orderd Cheese Enchiladas and he brought me some watery chicken Enchiladas. When i told the waiter he said he must have not heard me right and of course how could he hear me in such a loud place and the tables so close to each other how could he hear him. Tony's is an over priced restaurant and the only thing good here is the margarita!!! Not ever again!!

This place is better than the original Ninfas on Navigation. My mother is very particular about "Mexican" restaurants and this is one of the few she actually likes. Tony is there from time to time and is very friendly talking with the patrons. I would recommend this place but like they said, be prepared to wait for a table. Oh and by the way, I've never had a bad experience here. They give you good portions, it's always hot and fresh and they prices are reasonable.

The food is pretty average, nothing that really stands out, it's your standard tex-mex. The service is great, very friendly and prompt, the margaritas are potent and tasty. I've been going for years and never saw anything that would have gotten Marvin Zindler's knickers in a knot. The bathrooms are always clean and I have never seen any kind of vermin there. It's the great melting pot between the Heights, Oak Forest, Garden Oaks and Shpherd Park Plaza. I highly recommend checking it out if you're looking for good, strong margaritas and decent food.

One need to look to see if this message is true, because if it is "crap" it needs to be removed or addressed. My significant other and myself pass my this restaurant A LOT and we contemplating on visiting this restaurant. This is a awful review.

Just Blew Chunks Sun, 03/07/2010 - 7:51pm

I blew chunks the last time I ate this crap. Avoid this place at all costs! Also, saw some dead roaches and mice in the men's restroom and my friend saw some slime in the ice machine.

This is review is garbage, and written by a moron. I've never seen a REAL REVIEW phrased this way, it's someone who's upset with the restaurant, fired employee, etc. that's trying to make the place look bad. It needs to be removed.

I agree, I have been going here for years and have always had great service and great food.
Our order has been messed up maybe twice in all these years but I have never had a bad meal.
